Home Bar Ideas – Drinking at Home in Style

by admin on November 20, 2012

Working all day trying to meet deadlines with an annoying boss screaming up and down your neck can be very stressful no doubt. If this is the story of your life then probably you spend the entire day eagerly waiting for it to end so that you can get out of the office and head somewhere you can sit back and relax with your favorite drink in hand and some soothing music in the background. This all sounds really great but most people do not have any energy left at the end of the day to go to some bar a few miles from home to relax and unwind; they would rather head straight home. If a whiskey on the rocks is what you desire at the end of the day but you really hate the idea of having to go to a distant joint to get it, why not bring the bar home. Here are a few home bar ideas that you might find useful.

Bring in a carpenter
The first thing you need to do is find someone with a good level of carpentry skills to take care of the design end of things wherever necessary. Have this person carry out an assessment of your home to determine the best spot for the home bar.

Is it beer or……..
Now the next thing you need to consider is your taste; what exactly do you like to drink? That is what you should ask yourself. If you are beer drinker then you should think about bringing in a kegerator complete with labeled beer taps. A regular beer freezer might serve the purpose but if you really want to create that perfect bar setting then these beer dispensers will do the trick. Also, do not forget to bring in a few beer signs and stick them in different spots within your home bar.Home Bar Ideas

The good news about beer taps is that they come labeled with the various beer brands present in the market today. If you happen to be in love with a particular beer that is not too common and does not provide branded taps then simply get an unlabeled tap and write on it anything you wish. Forget about beer bottles and bring in some huge beer mugs as well. Finish this off with some rustic furnishing and you are good to go.

Is it whiskey?
If whiskey and brandy are your drinks then have a cabinet installed on the wall of your bar, add a few comfortable chairs or stools and start stocking on the drinks. The cabinets should have a glass front so that all the drinks are clearly visible. The glasses should be placed on a counter right below the cabinets and a sink right next to it.

Light it up
Even if you decide to incorporate your home bar in a well lit room you should consider installing independent lighting for this space. This will accentuate the bar and make it more appealing and real. A good idea is to make use of hurricane lanterns; you can choose to either have candles in them or electric bulbs. Whichever the case you will achieve a retro effect.
